Kenneth T. Delaney, of Hamden, died at the Hospital of St. Raphael's on November 10, 2013. Born on February 24, 1925 in Astoria, NY to the late John and Margaret Tyson Delaney. Ken is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Bly Delaney; his children, Kenneth Delaney of Friendswood, TX, Eileen Delaney (Steve Woollard) of Rockville, MD, Ann (William) Weiss of Hamden, Kathleen (David) Howe of Oakdale, NY, and Kevin (Arlene) Delaney of Cheyenne, WY; his 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law Linda Delaney. He was a designer/draftsman who worked on various projects for many Long Island, NY firms. Ken, a resident of Hamden since 1998, was proud of his Army service at D-Day, the Hurtgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge, for which he was awarded four Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and various unit awards. The French government recently made him a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor for his service on D-Day. After retirement Ken became active in veteran's affairs and served in various posts in the Disabled American Veterans and the Battle of the Bulge Assn., and proudly participated in Hamden parades and the Veterans Awareness Day at Quinnipiac University. Friends may visit with his family on Wednesday, November 13th, at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place after the Mass with Military Honors in the State of CT Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's honor may be made to Clelian Adult Day Care,http://cleliancenter.org , 261 Benham St., Hamden, CT 06514.
