Krisanne Forte Barbara, 30, of Hamden passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007. Loving wife and mother of Luciano and Andrew Barbara of Hamden, she is survived by parents, William & Susan Forte and grandmother, Eleanor O'Connor of Hamden, aunts and uncles, Michael & Jackie O'Connor of Hull, MA, Anne & Larry Soybel of Stafford, VA, Ellen O'Connor of East Haven, Dennis & Sharon O'Connor of Hamden, John O'Connor of Derby, Tim & Melissa O'Connor of Madison and Mario & Joan Forte of New Haven, mother & father-in-law, Stephen & Lucia Barbara of Hamden, brother-in-law Stephen Barbara, Jr., of Hoboken, NJ, aunt and uncle Fred & Caterina Romano of Hamden, and Antonia & Enzo Ferrucci of Amorosi, Italy. She is also survived by loving cousins Geoffrey & Michael Soybel, Kevin, Cameron & Cassidy O'Connor, and Caroline & Sydney O'Connor. Krisanne was born in New Haven, November 22, 1976. She grew up in Hamden where she graduated from Hamden High School in 1995 and from Hofstra University with a BA in Dance Performance, where she was a member of Phi Epsilon. Krisanne taught dance in Connecticut at Dance Unlimited in Hamden, Gloria Jean Studio of Dance in North Haven & West Haven and Luis Pabon Dance Art Center in Taftville and in New York for 10 years and has been involved with the Miss America Organization for 10 years. She actively worked in Breast Cancer Awareness with the Huntington Breast Cancer Coalition in Huntington, NY running dance work shops for women recovering from breast cancer, utilizing the Labed Method. Krisanne's joyful spirit, infectious smile, and grace will be remembered and missed by all. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at St. Rita Church at 10 a.m. Friends may call Tuesday (TODAY) from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Bill & Sue, Just yesterday I was informed of Krisanne’s passing. My heart breaks for you, her husband and son and all her loved ones that she left behind. I know that there are no words that will make this pain go away but you are all in my prayers everyday. Krisanne was a remarkable woman. I’m honored to say I knew her, though not well. She is missed.

She had such great determination and hope of getting better, and it is so tragic that her wishes were not granted. i am deeply sorry for your loss….i just cant understand how something like this could happen to such a sweet, happy, full of life person like krisanne….it makes no sense except that heaven is such a wonderful place and god is taking all of the wonderful people to be with him there! when dancing with krisanne for all those years, never once was she not smiling or trying to make others smile…she was never in a bad mood and didnt have a mean bone in her little body..these fond memories will live on 4ever….when we all think of her we will smile, because thats just what she did! your family will always be in my prayers…
I am so sorry to hear about Krisanne. We are so often taken by surprise by what life gives us, but there is a plan and I know Krisanne now understands it. There is nothing I can say to ease your pain. I can only share with you my fondest memories with Krisanne through High school and our fun cheerleading adventures. Krisanne was my first teacher back at the old studio. I remember telling her stories about my sister and her britany spears infactuation. We use to joke around when i would assist her classes. A couple months after Andrew was born she brought him into summer classes and I was the only one who got to hold him, I will always remember that. Her smile is something I will always remember. Krisanne will always hold a special place in my heart. She was one of my first dance teachers at Gloria Jeans and last year she was my cousins first teacher. When i was in highschool she came into Stop and Shop where i worked almost every week and would come thru my line. I looked forward to these few minutes a week we were able to share stories, joke and laugh, i loved it, these days were my favorite. Her smile is what i will always remember when she smiled she made you smile and your heart smiled to. Krisanne was a amazing person and i am thankful i had the chance to know her. I will never forget her and i know she is in heaven and will shine down on us forever she will always be an angel… She will be missed dearly and in my heart she will dance forever. Steve, Lucia, Luciano and the Forte family – there are no words that can express emotions at such a tragic lose. Nobody should ever have to experience the lose of such a wonderful daughter, wife and mother at such a young age. While you will never forget Krisanne I know the strength of such wonderful families and friends will help comfort Luciano, Andrew and each other through such a difficult time. Sue – I have not seen you in many years but wanted you to know how deeply saddened we are by Krisanne’s passing. Her beauty and grace was unmatched in the studio and she was such a wonderful role model for so many younger dancers. We always made sure we were in the audience to watch her dance. Sue,Billy,Lucian,Andrew and family, We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Krisanne’s illness and passing. Krisanne was one of my best-friends in childhood. Her infectious smile and energy was something I could always count on and I have such fond memories of growing up together. Watching Krisanne grow up and mature into a beautiful and accomplished woman brought joy to my heart because although we had lost touch in adulthood, I always remembered my childhood friend and I felt so proud of who she had become. I remember so clearly how beautiful she looked on her wedding day, truly one of the most beautiful brides I had ever seen. A beauty that shined not just on the outside, but from within. Forever in my mind I will always remember Kris as my best childhood friend who grew up to be everything that anyone could have hoped for. I knew everything about her prior, because her Aunt, Ellen would speak to her co-workers frequently and glowingly about Krisanne, her dancing, her involvement in Miss Connecticut pagent, her engagement, marriage,and the birth of her son, Andrew. I will remeber her courage and beautiful smile. She touched my heart. It was an honor and privlege to meet her.
