Born in: Meriden, CT
Resided in: Meriden, CT

Laura P. Lamothe, 98 years young, passed away September 21, 2023 at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT (formerly of Hall Ave., Meriden) after a yearlong, determined fight! Loving mother of Denise Yale and husband Gary, beloved grandmother of Stacy LaValle and husband Marc and Kelly Guzze and husband Kyle. She also leaves her great-grandchildren – the loves of her life – Brooke LaValle, Madison LaValle, Ella Guzze and Eli Guzze. Also, a nephew James Timms and many, many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Edmund (Buster), her sisters Edna Zukowski, Evelyn Timms and Mildred Ness and her parents Gustave and Elizabeth Ness (Nass).

Laura was born January 16, 1925, a daughter of Gustave and Elizabeth and was a lifelong resident of Meriden and graduated from Meriden High School. She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church her whole life, teaching Sunday School, helping with Bible School, member of the LWML Society and enjoyed working the Christmas Fairs.

Laura worked at Yankee Silversmith and Silvertown as the best coat check girl around! She was also employed at Lerner’s from the day the “Meriden Square” opened until her retirement and made many good friends there, some of whom still visit with her.

She loved dancing, crafts, word puzzles, bingo, and could not miss her weekly hair appointments, but most of all, loved spending time with her family. She attended every event and holiday, right up to the end when her limitations prevented her from doing so.  She was her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s biggest supporter at every school event, concerts and sports.

She will be missed deeply by her family, but we are all thankful that we had her this long. She fought with all her strength, till the very end and did it her way. After her last hospitalization, she expressed she was “ready” and wasn’t afraid. She was waiting to see her sisters and parents, whom she missed dearly.

She was loved deeply and even though we are heartbroken, we can find comfort in that she is finally at peace.

Friends may visit with her family on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 4-7 at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT, and are invited to attend her funeral at St. John Lutheran Church, Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 11 AM, with burial following at Gethsemane Cemetery, Bee St., Meriden, CT.

I’ve known your mom for many years and I can still remember her yelling at us when we were teenagers coming home at 1:00 in the morning. Whenever I would see her she always had a big smile when she talked about everyone in the family. She was lucky to have had you as a daughter and you were lucky to have had her as your mom. I feel blessed to have known her and will miss her.
