Laura Rudolph, age 97, of New Haven, passed away on March 25, 2017 at CT Hospice, Branford. She was born in New Haven on August 19, 1919 to the late Francesco and Lillie Johnson Manacchio. She is survived by her daughters; Audrey Spina and Claudia Surina, sister, Helen Burness, and grandchildren; Lisa Pelletier, Harold Spina, Robert Spina Jr., and Audra Spina-Clark. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Laura is predeceased by her first husband of 23 years, Harold Kersten, and second husband of 28 years, William Rudolph, her daughter, Lori Kersten, her brother, Bernard Zambrano, and sisters; Mae Hussey, Phyllis Squeglia, Carmel Cote, and Lucille Wnek. Laura was always a hard worker; having worked at The Toddle House Restaurant in New Haven, Hamden Laundry, and several other local jobs in the area. Among her favorite jobs was being a caretaker of children, all of whom she adored being 'Nanny' to. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, who will all dearly miss her caring and kind spirit. Friends are invited to visit with Laura's family on Thursday March 30 from 9-11am in the BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden. A service celebrating her life will take place at 11am. Interment will follow in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Donations in Laura's name may be sent to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
