Lawrence L. Benigni, 85, husband of the late Rose (Mansolf) Benigni passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at MidState Medical Center. He was born February 14, 1924 in Woonsocket, RI a son of the late Enrico and Nella (Diola) Benigni. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and then worked for Stanley Works until his retirement. He was a great accordion player, having played with Walt Solek as well as on his own at many weddings and special occasions. He is survived by six daughters and their spouses, Rose and Raymond Zisk of Burlington, CT, Beverly and Albert Paulter of W.Patterson, NJ, Margaret Marsh of Dayton, OH, Elizabeth and Alex Gopian of Wallingford, Shiela and Merl Monson of Southington, and Laura McDonald of West Haven and four sons and their wives, Clark Green of Nevada, Larry and Jeannie Gronau of Naugatuck, Lario and Luba Benigni of Rocky Hill and Enrico and Marie Benigni of Florida. He also leaves, a brother Harry 'Eddie' Benigni and Marion of Wallingford, a sister-in-law Carol Benigni of Wallingford, twenty-five grandchidlren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mikki Higley, two brothers, Louie Benigni and Bruno Benigni, and a sister, Hilda Casalin. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Burial with military honors will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, prior to the service from 10-11am.
