Meriden – Lee H. Stevens passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011. A life-long resident of South Meriden, he is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Virginia L. Stevens. Lee joined the Army Air Force after graduating from Meriden High School and entered Fighter Pilot Training during WWII. After the War, Lee returned to Meriden to settle in his hometown with his new bride, Virginia, and raise two sons while volunteering years of service at the South Meriden Fire Department. For eight years, Lee served as the Fire Chief and loved protecting the town and residents while working as an Industrial Engineer at International Silver Company for nearly 40 years. Lee was born on June 1, 1925, son of the late Wilbur and Frances Lang Stevens. Lee was an amazing father to his sons, Mark Stevens of NH and Roger Stevens of GA; the adored grandfather of Jill R. Stevens of FL and Leslie (Dubuc) Guerra of Thomaston and her husband Eric; together they have Lee's two-great grandchildren, Ryan Steven & Alex Lenard. Friends may visit with Lee's family on Monday, December 12th from 5 to 7 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT-FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Funeral procession leaving from Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. for his Funeral Service in South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. Susan DeSousa. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Contributions in Lee's memory may be sent to South Meriden Volunteer Fire Dept., 31 Camp St., South Meriden, CT 06451.
