Meriden- Leon Bacote Sr., 84, husband of the late Hazel Lee Hendricks Bacote passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side on Saturday, July 28, 2007. He was born in Darlington, South Carolina on August 20, 1922 a son of the late Frank and Lillie Bacote. Before his retirement he was employed at Miller Company in Meriden for 42 years. Leon was a wonderful person great fisherman and loved and respected by all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by three daughters, Ms. Cheryl Riley, Ms. Gloria Mickens and Mrs. Patrice (Michael) Harrison, five sons, Mr. Leon(Rita) Bacote Jr., Mr. Thomas Bacote, Mr. Leonard (Glady) Bacote, Mr. Michael Bacote and Mr. Guy Bacote, 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews and a godchild, Monique Murph. He also leaves three brothers, Willie Bacote, Frank Bacote and Douglas Brunson Sr., three sisters, Marie Alford, Inetha Kennedy and Daisy Shanklin. He was predeceased by a sister Mabel Simon. The family would like to thank MidState Medical Center and Franciscan Hospice Care for the excellent care and compassion received. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2 at 11:00am at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden. The Rev. Willie J. Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Wednesday, August 1 from 5-8 p.m.

  6. leon and i worked together many years ago in vernoeau lumber yard.he was a dear friend and a mentor for me as a young man learning to work. i enjoyed his company and good nature and his great laugh. my heart goes out to all the bacote family my love and prayers will ride with leon to his final resting place. god bless to all vinny
