LeRoy N. Bredenberg
LeRoy Nelson Bredenberg, age 99, of Southbury, formerly of Bethany & Hamden, passed away on January 30, 2018. Born in New Haven on October 10, 1918, he was a son of the late Einar & Elda (Nelson) Bredenberg. LeRoy is survived by his wife of 80 years Dorothy (Lewis) Bredenberg; sons, Eric Bredenberg & his wife JoAnn of Southbury and Allan Bredenberg & his wife Susan of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Sherri Bredenberg Hostage and Edward Bredenberg and his great-granddaughter Julia Hostage. He was predeceased by his sister, Elsie Beauvais and brothers, Stanley & Clifford Bredenberg. LeRoy was a Merchant Marine during WWII. He retired from the former Whitney Blake Co. in Hamden, where he had worked as a machine operator. LeRoy is fondly remembered for his jokes, laughter, and his melodic singing voice around the house. He set a wonderful example of a loving, affectionate husband for his sons. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Thursday, February 1st from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden and may attend his burial on Friday, February 2nd at 12 Noon in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section O, New Haven. Following his burial a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Southbury Lutheran Home, 990 N. Main St., Southbury, CT 06488. In lieu of flowers contributions in LeRoy's memory may be made to Southbury Lutheran Home.
