Lillian Black
Lillian Jackson Black, age 105, passed away on December 26, 2016 at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston, SC. Lillian was born in New Haven on April 6, 1911, a daughter of the late William & Jenny (Vanall) Jackson. She was the widow of Edward Henry Black, whom she married on November 2, 1929. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Johnson of Charleston, SC and Janice Gore & her husband Michael of Richmond, VA; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren. Lillian was predeceased by sons, William, Ralph and Ross Jackson; her daughter Lillian Coles; her great-granddaughter Christine Williams; sister Lena Jackson and her brother William Jackson. Lillian had a big heart and was always ready and willing to help her family and friends. She loved Brookdale Senior Living, where she lived for the last 8 years, but her heart always remained in Connecticut, where she will be returning to join her beloved husband. Friends may attend her Funeral Service on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 9:00 AM in BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, and may attend a visitation on Friday evening from 8:00-9:00pm. Her interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
