Loretta 'Skip' Tyler, age 84, of Hamden, wife of the late Melvin Tyler Jr. passed away on July 20, 2016. Loretta was born in New Haven, CT on October 25, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph Comfort and Rose Courville Comfort. She is survived by her children; Joseph (Julia) Tyler, Dorri (John) Eilbeck, Dawn Yates, Duane (Karen) Tyler, Judy Taylor, Michael (Patti) Tyler & Jennifer (Paul) Ruggiero; her grandchildren Tara Stoker, Joseph Tyler, Denise Medeiros, Michael Eilbeck, Kelsey Tyler, Amber Tyler, Ryan Yates, Coty Taylor, Sara Greenwell, Lindsay Tyler, Emily Tyler, Michael Tyler & Jessica Ruggiero and her great grandchildren Marc, Alyssa, TJ, Jonathan, Michael, Faith, Kaileigh, Brianna, Caitlin, Zoey, Maddox & Micah. She was predeceased by her brothers Alphonse & Richard and her sisters Rae, Rita, Blanche and Pannay. She, along with her husband, were past presidents of the Hamden Promenader Square Dance Club. She was an avid UCONN Huskies Basketball fan. Her family would like to thank the staff of Whitney Manor for the loving care they provided the last three years. Friends may visit with her family on Monday July 25th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden . Burial will be private with the family.

  1. Dorri the loss of a loved one leaves a pain in our hearts that is very hard to describe. As I read your mom’s bio what a full life she had. She was blessed with a large family and kept an active life.I know every one will have many happy memories to share of her. My prayers go out to you and the entire family. love

My deepest sympathy to the entire Tyler Family on the passing of Skip she was a very sweet person and will be deeply missed, I have found memories of going to her house on King street, I would stop in to see her and Mel when they were in ST Raphael’s Hospital and got to see her children then also. God Bless to the entire Family.
