WALLINGFORD-Lorraine S. Leiss, 72, of Third St., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at MidState Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Charles Leiss. She was born in Meriden Nov. 24, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Ann Paydon Sadler. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College as the valedictorian of the Class of 1950 and was active in the Albertus Magnus Alumni Association. Mrs. Leiss worked in the Office of Risk Management for the Town of Wallingford and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Marjorie Leiss and Peter Falero of Bourne, MA, Cynthia Elizabeth and John Opalski of Montpelier, VT, Elizabeth Adeline Leiss of Wallingford and Jennifer Janet and David Giarratana of Wallingford; four sons, Charles William and Jill Leiss of Meriden, Erik Martin and Linda Leiss of Clinton, William Wright and Linda Leiss of Berlin and Frederick Maximillian Leiss of Kensington; and ten grandchildren, Jennifer Bayard of Wallingford, Erik Leiss, William Leiss, Nicholas Leiss , all of Clinton, Charles Leiss , Chanelle Leiss, both of Meriden Maximillian Leiss, Benjamin Leiss, both of Berlin, David Giarratana and Lorraine Giarratana, both of Wallingford. She was predeceased by a brother, William Sadler. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Avenue, Meriden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Leiss' memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, l27 Washington Avenue, North Haven, CT 06473.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about my first cousin’s passing. We have not been in touch with Lorraine for a long time. After the death of my parents, we lost touch with our relatives in Connecticut. You have our deepest sympathy at your time of loss. I will notify my sister in Palm Desert, Ca. She was the same age as Lorraine and will be sorry to hear the news. Lorraine’s father and our father (Edward F. Sadler, Sr.) were brothers. Keeping you in our prayers, Edward.

  2. My thoughts are with all of you. Ironic that my Dad, Aunt Lorraine’s brother, passed away in January also. Now they are together again.
