M. Maryann Haibach Bates

M. Maryann Haibach Bates passed away at MidState Medical Center with family present, on July 30, 2015 at the age of 90. Born June 18, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Emil and Mary Nunn Haibach. She married the late Guy M. Bates on May 18, 1946 and moved to Colorado for seven years before settling in Meriden in 1953. Maryann retired from the Napier Co. where she was a secretary in the Purchasing Department. She was a charter member of the New England Rosemaling Society, taught classes in Norwegian folk art, and sold many pieces at shows throughout Connecticut. She was also a charter member of the Central Connecticut Chapter M.I. Hummel Club and has acquired many figurines. Maryann was also an avid Scrap booker and loved bowling with her friends, The Alley Cats, for many years. Maryann is survived by her son Guy Bates Jr. of Berlin; daughter, Kelly Hinkle & her husband Michael of Oviedo, FL; grandson, Jason Bates and his wife Jennifer Dauphinais of Guilford; granddaughter, Megan Hinkle of Oviedo, FL; as well as many dear and special friends. Friends are invited to join her family for a Funeral Service to be held on Tuesday, August 4th at 1 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Arrangements under the care of BEECHER & BENNETT-FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden.
