WALLINGFORD - Mabel Strickland, 86, of Ashlar Village died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at her residence. She was born in New Haven on Sept. 18, 1918, a daughter of the late James and Cynthia Bishop MacKay. She was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and was employed as a bookkeeper for the Home Insurance Company, and was a member of the Westville Congregational Church. She is survived by a sister, Mina MacKay of Wallingford; four nieces and nephews, Susan Wilson of Portland, OR, Raymond MacKay, Jr. of North Carolina, Jane Heckles of Claremont, CA and William MacKay-Heckles of Farmington; and nine greatnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Roderick MacKay and Raymond MacKay, Sr.; a sister, Doris Heckles and a niece, Pamela Higby. A memorial service will be held in the Community Room at Ashlar Village in Wallingford at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2005. The Rev. Dean Warburton will officiate. Burial at the convenience of the family will be in Westville Cemetery in New Haven. Contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O.
