Mabel 'Sue' Orrell, 84, died peacefully in Milford Hospital, June 1, 2011, wife of William F. Orrell, Jr. of Orange, loving mother of Billie Sue Ferris and husband Bernie Ferris, Terri Lynn Orrell, Charlotte Ann Orrell and Mary Ann Mijeski and husband John Mijeski, loving grandmother of Kirsten Sue Maccio and husband Raymond Maccio, Michael Ferris, Nicholas Ferris, Paul D. Izzo Jr. and wife Viviana, Tricia Jennings and husband Darnell Jennings, Joshua Dow and wife Leia, Charles Kindle and wife Janice, loving great-grandmother of Michael and Ally Maccio, Hunter Kindle and Kierra Kindle, Barry and Virginia Staples, Tricia and Darnell Jr. Jennings, Yasmin, Aysia and Athena Dow and Deelyn Tilley, loving brother and sister-in-law Norman and Pat Orrell and their family and many friends. She was born June 10, 1926 in Orange a daughter of the late Howard and Mabel Shaw. Her grandfather was the town blacksmith in Orange. Mabel was a volunteer at Milford Hospital for 25 years, was a member of the Red Hat Society, Aqua Belles, Orange Historical Society, Orange Seniors, American Legion Auxiliary, Orange Business and Professional Women's Club, Original Orange Country Fair participant and won several First Prize and Best in Show for her afghans and doll making crafts. She was very talented and passionate about her knitting and crocheting hundreds of sweaters, scarfs and blankets for friends, family and donations. She was very proud and happy to have so many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having been a loving wife to William Orrell for 67 years. Her funeral service will be Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. Interment in Orange Center Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
