Maire Borzain Terrace, 97, of Hamden, passed away on December 15, 2016. Maire was the widow of S. George Terrace. Born in New Haven on September 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late George & Mary (Brearton) Borzain. Maire was mother of the late Atty. Thomas O. Terrace, Mary Margaret Mandel, & J. Paul Terrace, both of Hamden; mother in-law of Dianne Terrace of North Haven; grandmother of Paul Mandel of Milford, Thomas O. Terrace, Jr. of Boston, MA & Dana Terrace of Los Angeles, CA, aunt of many nieces & nephews, and of course Maria Stygles. Maire was also predeceased by her brothers, John & Thomas Borzain. She was the 1995 National Grandparent of the Year, a Past President of the Helen Street School Parents Teachers Assoc., the Hamden Womens Club, and the Connecticut Federation of Womens Clubs. Maire was a volunteer at the American Red Cross, New Haven Chapter and a founding board member of the High Meadow School for Children. Maire's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Atria Larson Place for their love and support. Friends may attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM in St. Rita Church, 1640 Whitney Ave, Hamden. Interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, 1 Park St., New Haven, CT 06510.
