MERIDEN - Marcia Gritz Goodlin, 50, loving wife of Blair F. Goodlin, of 45 Ivy Drive, Meriden, passed away at home Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, surrounded by her family. She was born in Meriden, March 12, 1951, a daughter of Arline Flechtner Gritz of Meriden and the late Herman A. Gritz. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 1973 and was employed by the City of Meriden as a finance specialist. Marcia was an active lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Meriden and served as President and Secretary of the congregation, Sunday School Superintendent and Assistant Financial Secretary. She was the President of the Aid Association for Lutherans, Branch #10276 and was captain of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Relay for Life team. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Lawrence Page of Meriden; a stepson, Blair F. Goodlin, Jr. of Sherman Oaks, CA, a sister, Shirley Gritz of New York City; a brother and his wife, Robert and Linda Gritz of Hancock, MD, her husband's parents, Charles and Dorothea Goodlin of Allentown, PA, a sister-in-law, Judy Thayer of New Castle, DE, a brother-in-law and his wife, Rev. Richard and Marg Goodlin of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 164 Hanover St., Meriden, CT 06451.

  1. I am so sorry to learn of Marcia’s passing. I truly enjoyed knowing her and admired her courage, strength, and love as she battled cancer with her family by her side. My thoughts and prayers are with Blair and Jennifer and Larry.
