Marcus Elliot Greene, 47, of West Springfield, MA, departed this life on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born in Springfield, MA on July 28, 1969. He attended Sound School in New Haven, CT and graduated from Putnam High School in Springfield, MA. Upon graduating high school he entered the military and served four years in the Marines. Once discharged from the Marines he enlisted in the Army Reserves and served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a Residential Advisor at the Westover Job Corps in Chicopee, MA. Marcus believed in and loved God, and was a devoted father. He was an avid movie buff and enjoyed playing video games with his sons. He also was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Carolina Panthers. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother; Vivian Greene of New Haven, CT, his stepfather; Earl Douglas (Carolyn) of Charlotte, NC, his aunt; Betty Greene of Springfield, MA, his siblings; Keith Greene of Norfolk, VA, Markena Miles (Christopher) of Matthews, NC, J'Maela and J'Mar Douglas of New Haven, CT, his sons; Marcus Jr. (mother Pam Johnson) and Marquis (mother Crystal Dukes) of Springfield, MA, and his dear friend Mary Rodgers of Winsted, CT, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marcus's family on Saturday November 12, 2016 from 10-11am in the BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden, CT. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place following the visitation at 11am. Interment with full military honors will take place on Monday November 14, 2016 at 1:30pm in the CT State Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457.
