Margaret Mackin Lucey
Margaret Mackin Lucey, entered into eternal rest, September 5, 2003, after a long struggle. Margaret ''Peggy'' Lucey, wife of the late Donald F. Lucey, was born in Boston, August 9, 1915, to Jeremiah and Margaret Mackin. She received her B.A. at Emmanuel College and a M.A. in social work at Boston University. After many years raising a family, she took over as President of D.F. Lucey Associates, and export company, upon the death of her husband. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Saint Rita Parish for nearly forty years. A women of grace and strength, with an abiding sense of humor, she will be missed terribly by all her family. She is survived by her children, Margaret Thorne of Katonah, NY, Patricia Lucey of Brooklyn, NY, Moria Lucey of Arlington, MA, Donna Wiencek of Charlottesville, VA, Donald F. Lucey, Jr. of Greenwich, CT and Jeremiah Lucey, Jr. of New York City, her grandchildren, Henry Wiencek, Thomas and Jeremiah Thorne, James and Christopher Lucey, her brother Fr. Francis Mackin, SJ. of Chestnut Hill, MA and sister Kathleen Ring of Ireland. Other siblings, all deceased, included John Mackin of West Roxbury, MA, Thomas Mackin of Wellesley, MA, Ann Marie Murray of New York, NY and Mary Holland of Needham, MA. She also leaves behind twenty-eight nieces and nephews and fifty grand-nieces and nephews. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT, Monday, Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita Church, Hamden at 11:00 a.m. The Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Thorne and concelebrated by Margaret's brother, Rev. Francis Mackin, SJ. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden. A gathering for prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017.
