Margaret S. Dingle
In Meriden, June 5, 2006 Margaret S. Dingle, 88, of Wallingford and formerly of Hamden. Wife of the late Frederick M. Dingle. Mother of Patricia D. Wiedenmann of Wallingford, Marcia C. Dingle of Guilford, Louise D. Beach of Prospect and Frederick M. Dingle, Jr. of Peoria, Arizona. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Margaret was born in New Haven, April 2, 1918, daughter of the late Frank C. and Clara Egg Spargo. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Spargo. Margaret received her B.Ed., M.S.Ed. and was a 6th year candidate from Southern Connecticut State University. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she was a reading consultant; Title I Summer School Teacher; Chairperson-Reading Department, K-12 Hamden Public Schools; Director-Right to Read; Title I Consultant; a member of the advisory committee for Scholastic Magazine and Title IV C Project Director. She was past president and charter member of Nutmeg Reading Council, Research Committee Chairperson - CARR, a presenter at the New England Reading Association Conference; Connecticut Reading Conference, a member of A.R.C.C.: N.E.R.A.: I.R.A. and a presenter at A.S.G.D. State Conference. She was also a contributor to "Instructor Magazine" and editor of "A Handbook for Parents of Early Primary Children". She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Congregational Church, where she served on the Christian Education Committee, Wednesday morning Craft Group, Deaconesses, and the Pastoral Supply Committee. Margaret enjoyed the social activities of Shirts and Skirts and in addition to her work with Eastern Star, 4-H and Girl Scouts, she enjoyed crafts and gardening. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 1 at 9 AM at The Mt. Carmel Congregational Church, 3280 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel Congregational Church Endowment Fund, 3284 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
