Marie Irene Johnson, 78, of Meriden, passed away on February 21, 2019. She was born in South Berwick, Maine on June 27, 1940 to the late Irene Elliot. She leaves behind her brother Richard Chandler; sisters Claudia Chandler-Murray and Norma Jean Chandler-Murray; daughter Melba Leary and her husband Lonnie Leary; sons John Chandler, David Johnson, Michael Johnson, Phil Johnson and Robert Johnson; grandchildren Nakia Johnson, Keywan Johnson, Roemello Leary, Giovanni Leary and Carlynn Sakowicz; and great-grandchildren Jaidon Xavier Adorno and Ricardo Hernandez, Jr. Marie worked for Double A Transportation for many years until her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed old movies, listening to music, and cooking for her family. Marie especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Marie's caregiver of exactly six years, Ana Caraballo, for the love and care she gave to Marie. Friends may visit with Marie's family on Saturday March 9 from 11am-1pm at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, Meriden. Interment will be private at the convenience of her family. Contributions in Marie's memory may be sent to her family via her daughter Melba Leary, 124 Leonard St., Meriden, CT 06451.

  2. To Marie Johnson Family, She will be greatly miss,i remeber on Sherman Ave i had Easter color eggs for the kids. I been your mom friend since u all been babies,i made baby blankets for all of U. I guess me & mom had 1 bad thing we like to go out to eat, the wrong food, Mom would call me let’s go to Hamden. It would be fried Chicken,that what we both did wrong. We had some good times together,she visit me at Center with her aid, come to find out 1 of her friend work here .I am sorry to hear about her passing. Terriann & Marsha Randall
