Marilyn “Maryann” McKenna Mazzella, 87, of Hamden, peacefully passed away on April 20, 2023. Maryann was born on October 28, 1935 to the late Frances and Helen Kelleher McKenna in Springfield, MA. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Mazzella; her son, James Mazzella; and siblings, Frances, Helen, and Tucker. Maryann is survived by her sister and best friend, Susan (Joseph) Mattie; and daughters, Mary (Fred) Bortolan and Susan Mazzella. She will also be missed by her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Sean) McGuinness, Melissa (James) Pelletier, and Zack Bortolan; and great-grandchildren, Declan and Liam McGuinness. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Lilly.
Maryann loved casino trips, where she had a talent for playing slot machines with her daughter Mary. In her younger years she was an avid bowler and square dancer, and enjoyed many social events with her friends. Maryann will be missed by her family and friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25th. Burial will be private. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden.
