Marion Rossman Thorn, 96, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2017. Born in Hudson, NY on November 6, 1920 to the late William and Helen Rossman Fraleigh. Marion was predeceased by her husband, The Rev. Ralph S. Thorn Jr.; daughters, Pamela Reader and Nan Thorn-Clements; sister, Alyce Duntz. She had been an active member of the Spring Glen Church and retired from Yale University's departments of University Health and the Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry as an accountant. She taught piano lessons in her home for over 40 years and continued playing for her assisted living community in various plays and church services. One of her favorite past times was playing Bridge with her friends. Marion will be remembered by her sons, Jeff (Norma) Thorn of Orange and Paul Thorn of North Haven; grandchildren, Cassi (Rob) Clough and Matt Clements; great-grandchildren, James and Isabelle Clough and Olive Clements, and her nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service Celebrating Marion's life on Tuesday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. in Spring Glen United Church of Christ, 1825 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT. Interment will take place at a later date in the Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson NY. Contributions in Marion's name may be sent to The Pamela Thorn Memorial Humanities Scholarship, West Virginia Wesleyan College Buckhannon, West Virginia 26201.

  2. To my Aunty Marion……… What a long life of 96 years filled with so much wisdom and so many unforgettable memories. I’m sure your sitting side by side with your sister on the bench playing the piano, while your mother and father are singing joyously to your hymns in the heavens. We’ll miss you with our shared cards sent through the miles at Christmas and birthdays. May you rest in peace knowing how you touched all of your nieces and nephews’ hearts through out the years.
