Marion S. Hourigan

Meriden - Marion S. Hourigan, 89 wife of the late Earl Hourigan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Village at Kensington Place. She was born May 31, 1919 in New London, CT the only child of Arthur and Gladys (Smith) Sergent. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1937 and from UCONN in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Marion taught Middle School home economics in Meriden for 32 years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Meriden where she taught Sunday School for many years. After her retirement Marion also volunteered at the Miller Memorial Community for ten years. She is survived by a son Bruce Parrish and his wife Karen of Southbury, three grandchildren, Brooke Fuller and her husband David, David Mattei and his wife Jamie and Kevin Mattei and one great-granddaughter Sarah Mattei. She was predeceased by a son, Arthur Parrish. Funeral service Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Alden Barnes will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 - 11am (prior to the service). Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
