Marjorie Frances Jobes Beecher, age 95, of 35 Hamden Hills Drive, formerly of James Street, Hamden, passed away on April 13, 2015 at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the wife of the late Walter Russell Beecher. Marjorie was born on May 6, 1919, a daughter of the late Arthur H. and Helen Chapell Jobes. She graduated from the former Larson College in Hamden. She was employed by the Lomas & Nettleton Agency for forty-one years until her retirement. Marjorie was a member of Grace and St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Hamden, where she served on various committees, including the Altar Guild and cooking for the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the Episcopal Church Women. Marjorie was an avid bridge player. She and Walter enjoyed traveling with friends. Marjorie spent many happy hours sitting in front of her sunny living room window watching the birds, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sister Virginia Anderson. All are invited to her graveside service at Central Burying Ground (Centerville Cemetery) 295 Washington Avenue in Hamden on Friday, April 17th at 10:00 AM. Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN.
