Marjorie Grieve Duffy, 89, of Hamden, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation in West Hartford. She was the loving wife of the late John F. Duffy. Born in New Haven on September 17, 1926 Marjorie was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Smith Grieve. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Gabinelle and her husband Gregg of West Hartford; grandsons Ryan and John Gabinelle; sister Marion Sarsfield and her husband William of Hamden; and nephews Charles and Brian Hexter and their families. She is predeceased by her sister Shirley Hexter and her husband Raymond; nephew Randy Hexter; and niece Marjorie Rabito. Marjorie leaves behind her lifelong friend Catherine Leach of North Branford, her very close friend Cynthia Doolittle of Hamden who will now be caring for her beloved cat Riley that she rescued from the CT Humane Society, and dear friends Judy and Alan Lubenow of Florida. She has been a Hamden resident for the past 50 years, a longtime member of the Center Church on the Green in New Haven and she was an avid fan of UConn Womens Basketball. Marjorie lived her life with this in mind: 'Take one day at a time.' Marjorie's family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to the entire staff of Hughes Health & Rehab who gave her exceptional care and love over the past weeks. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service on October 1, 2016 at 10:00a.m. in St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Ave., West Haven.
