Marjorie Leland Miller, age 104, of West Haven, passed away on Feb. 19, 2018. Born in Hartford, CT on May 14, 1913 she was a daughter of the late Webster Leland, Sr & Inez Brockway Leland. Marjorie was the widow of Richard Miller; mother of Judith Treanor & her husband Ronald of Hamden, Marjorie Oranzo of Madison and Nancy Stratton & her husband Kevin of Madison; grandmother of Elizabeth Morley, Michael Treanor, Jason Oranzo, Alexander Oranzo and Spencer Stratton; great grandmother of Ned Morley, Brendan Morley, Peyton Rose Oranzo, Scout Oranzo-Root and Gus Oranzo-Root and sister of the late Elizabeth Houley, Frances DeCarlo & Webster Leland, Jr. She also leaves a special niece Betty Ann Colberg and several other nieces and nephews and her very special neighbors Fran, Trisha, Bobby & Alphonse. A lifelong resident of West Haven she was a member of the First Baptist Church and their Mizpah Group. Marjorie was the manager of the Housewares Department for the former W.T. Grant Store in New Haven for 25 years and continued her bookkeeping skills to age 104. An avid bowler, she was well known for her enjoyment of peppermint patties. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, Feb. 23rd at 12:00 PM at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. Friends may also visit with her family at the funeral Friday from 10:00 AM prior to her service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
