Mary E. Speers
Mary E. Speers, 94, of Montrose, PA, formerly of West Haven, wife of the late Arthur E. Speers, passed away April 5, 2005. Mother of Richard Gaudio and his wife, Patricia of Missouri, grandmother of Richard Gaudio, Jr. and his wife, Anna of New Haven, Terri LaRue and her husband, Tim of Montrose, PA, great-grandmother of Felicia, Dennis, Kolbe, Dominique, J.J., Zach, Jordan and Mark, sister of Alice Goodrich and her husband, Jack of North Haven, CT, sister-in-law, Sylvia Saars, New Haven several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Donald J. Gaudio, grandson, Donald J. Gaudio Sr., and brothers, William, Ernest and Frank Saars, and sister, Lillian Lane. She was born in East Haven June 27, 1910, a daughter of the late John and Olive Slater Saars. Mary was a member and past Worthy Matron of the O.E.S. Golden Rod Chap # 34 of West Haven, a 50 year member of the VFW Post # 591Ladies Auxiliary, worked for the New Haven Clock Shop and Yale New Haven Hospital. Funeral service Friday, April 8, 2005 at 1 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., at Court St, West Haven. Friends may call prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m. Eastern Star service by Golden Rod Chapter at 12:30 p.m. Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
