Mary 'Eleanor' Duke

Mary 'Eleanor' Duke, age 94, of West Haven, passed away on October 28, 2016. Eleanor was born in Menands, Albany New York on May 2, 1922, a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Bird) Duke. She is survived by her niece Lynn Spreyer of West Haven; her nephew John 'Jack' Spreyer and his wife Donna of Troy, Michigan; her grand-niece Victoria Spreyer, and grand-nephew Jason Spreyer, both of Michigan. Eleanor was predeceased by her sister Marion Agnes Spreyer in 2008. She moved from Albany at the age of 8 and resided the rest of her life in West Haven. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State Teachers College she was a school teacher for a short time. Eleanor went on to work at Southern New England Telephone Company where she was a computer trainer. She retired from there after many years of employment. Eleanor was a member the the Telephone Pioneers of America. Friends may visit with her family at Beecher & Bennett -Taylor Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Avenue, West Haven on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:30 AM and may stay to attend her Funeral Service which will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Her interment will take place at 1:30 PM on Thursday in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section N, New Haven.
