Mary Jane Talmadge

Mary Jane Talmadge passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2016. She was the wife of the late Arthur R. Talmadge, Sr. Mary Jane was born in Bristol, CT on November 21, 1932, the daughter of the late William Sidney Pittman and Josephine Krause Pittman. She graduated from Bristol High School Class of 1950, and as an RN from Grace-New Haven School of Nursing Class of 1953. Mary Jane worked at Yale-New Haven Hospital, but spent the majority of her career as a Private Duty Nurse. Nursing was her passion as well as her career. She lived in Hamden, and retired in Cheshire, CT. She enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod, as well as trips to Virginia, New Hampshire, and California. Mary Jane is survived by her children, Jo-Ellen Peters (James) of Cheshire, Arthur R. Talmadge, Jr. (Sherry Simpson) of Ashford, Robert J. Talmadge, Ph.D of Diamond Bar, CA, and her four grandchildren; Kathy Peters of Keene, NH, John J. Peters of Philadelphia, PA, and Ryan and Camille Talmadge of Diamond Bar, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Jo-Anne Abel of Winston-Salem, NC, and 11 nieces & nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Mary Jane's family from 5-7 PM Monday, September 5th in BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 11 AM Tuesday, September 6th. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jane's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
