Mary Mama' Iamele

Mary 'Mama' Iamele, age 97, of East Haven, formerly of West Haven, passed away on December 22, 2014. Mary was the widow of Nicholas Iamele. Born in New Haven on May 27, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore & Vita DiNicola. Mary was predeceased by her daughters, Grace M. O'Mara and Jeanette Vitali; her grandson Timothy O'Mara and her sisters, Connie & Rose Vitelli, Vita Biondi and Nate Franco. She is survived by her grandchildren & their spouses, Donna (Michael) DeCarlo, Daniel (Judy) O'Mara, Raymond (Valerie) Vitali, Pamela (Daniel) Marfino and Jennifer (Michael) Toth; her son in-law Daniel O'Mara of Wallingford and 9 great grandchildren. Mary was a saleswoman for many years at the former Malley's Store in New Haven. She enjoyed many crafts including Needle Point at the West Haven Library. Mary was a wonderful cook and found much joy in sharing her tasty creations with her family and many friends. Friends may visit with her family at Beecher & Bennett - Taylor Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Ave, West Haven on Friday, December 26 th from 8:30 to 10:30 AM prior to her Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Lawrence Church.
