Matthew Astramowicz, 86, life-long Meriden resident, loving husband of 60 years to Dolores (Nobert) Astramowicz, passed away on April 22, 2025, at The Curtis Home in Meriden. He was born in Meriden on June 7, 1938, the son of the late Kostanty and Mary (Mitoraj) Astramowicz. Besides his wife Dolores, Matthew is survived by his children Mary Claire Andrew, Lynn Higgins and her husband Arthur, Matthew E. Astramowicz, and Lisa Burke. He also leaves his grandchildren Jeremy and Nicholas Higgins, Bailey, Owen, and Whitney Andrew, Brigid and Catherine Burke, his sister Eleanor Glen and her husband Eugene. Matthew honorably and proudly served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division, having exited an aircraft 17 times. He went on to work for Pratt & Whitney in North Haven for 35 years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, in which he was a member of many leagues over the years. He also was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, and horse racing. He especially enjoyed traveling the country with his wife before and after they retired. Matthew’s family would like to thank the staff at The Curtis Home and Franciscan Home and Hospice Care in Meriden for their care, and for making a difficult time easier.

Friends are invited to visit with Matthew’s family on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Angels-St. Joseph Parish, 22 Goodwill Ave., Meriden. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions in Matthew’s memory be made to The Franciscan Life Center, 271 Finch Ave. Meriden, CT 06451, www.flcenter.org.
