Maurice J. 'Mousey' Barrett, a.k.a 'Longball,' age 87, of Hamden, passed away on June 4, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was born on August 2, 1930 to the late Morgan and Nora Garvey Barrett. Maurice is survived by his longtime companion Louise Sciarretti. He was predeceased by his sisters Rita and Cecelia Barrett and Mary O'Connor, and brothers John and Morgan Barrett. Maurice honorably served in the U.S. Army and worked as an Engineer for Metro North Railroad for over 40 years. He loved playing golf, especially at Laurel View Country Club in Hamden and Fenwick Golf Course in Old Saybrook. Maurice passed away at 2:30 p.m. so he could make the 3 p.m. tee time with his long-time friends Forbes Smith, Jimmy Cannon, and Bob McNulty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 11 at 10 a.m. in St. Rita Church, Hamden. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maurice's name may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
