Miles Grant Blakeslee, Jr. 84, husband of 60 years of Joyce Oswald Blakeslee, passed away peacefully in his home the morning of March 15, 2014. Grandson of Watson Stiles Woodruff, former CT Senator, and of D.A. Blakeslee, former Lt. Gov. of CT. He was born in New Haven, CT November 23, 1929 a son of the late M. Grant and Catherine Woodruff Blakeslee and resided in Ft. Myers, FL, and North Haven, CT. Father of Catherine Woodruff Blakeslee Reynolds (Richard) of North Branford, Wendy Jane Blakeslee Peterson (Todd) of Gales Ferry, David Grant Blakeslee (Kira) of Wallingford and the late Linda Jill Blakeslee Sigety (1956-1989). Brother of the late Sally Blakeslee Oestreicher. Grandfather of Andrew Sigety (Natalie), Bradley Sigety (Rebecca) Caitlin Reynolds, Meghan Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Grant Peterson, Grace Peterson, great grandfather of Lilah Sigety. Mr. Blakeslee attended Hopkins, Berkshire School, and graduated from Hobart College where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and served in the US Army in Germany. He was Vice President at the C.W. Blakeslee & Sons Construction Co., great grandson of the founder Charles Wells Blakeslee. Miles was a long time member of the Spring Glen United Church of Christ, and the Mory's Assoc. He was an avid golfer and a member of the New Haven Country Club, Heritage Palms Golf & Country Club, Mid Ocean Club, Bermuda, the Junior/Senior Golf Assoc., and the CT Seniors Golf Assoc. He was a past board member of the New Haven Rehabilitation Center, the YMCA, New Haven Boys Club, and was Past President of Hamden/North Haven Kiwanis Club. Miles and Joyce travelled extensively throughout their 60 years of marriage. He was a fun loving, tender and generous man who loved his family, golf, traveling and gardening. At Miles' request a private family service and burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Orange Center Cemetery. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE. HAMDEN.
