Milton Hayles Beecher
Milton Hayles Beecher, 102, died peacefully at home January 20, 2012. He is survived by his children, Barbara Stiles, Leslie Wilcox, Edward Beecher, and Viola Beecher as well as his grandchildren Jessica Wilcox, Robert Beecher, and Alice Beecher. A native of Hamden, Connecticut, Milton worked as a highway engineer for the State of Connecticut for over forty years. A gentle and loving family man, he enjoyed the company of his large extended family, who recently gathered from all over the country to celebrate his 100th birthday. He cared for his wife of 55 years, Alice, throughout her long battle with Alzheimer's disease, and spent the last 15 years of his life with his son Edward and his family in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Calling hours will be 4-8 PM Tuesday January 24th at BEECHER & BENNETT Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT. Services will be held Wednesday January 25th at 11 AM at Grace and St. Peter's Episcopal Church at 2927 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT Interment will be in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. Donations may be made to Alzheimer's support groups or to the St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57326.
Such gentle memories I have of Milton, and such accolades from my parents, especially my Dad of your Dad. Great Neighborhood it was!
