In Cheshire, March 14, 2006 Mimi G. Widmer Kapitan, 69, wife of Branislav (Bernie) Kapitan of Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire and formerly of Hamden. Mother of Linda Kapitan of East Berlin, CT, step-mother of Karen Ann Kuder of Moorestown, NJ. Also survived by 5 grandchildren. Mimi was born on May 1, 1936 in New York City, a daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Witmer Widmer. She was an Instructor of Nursing for CT Vocational Technical Schools for 27 years. She earned a B.S. degree from Case Western Reserve and a Master's in Education from SCSU. She served in the Air Force Reserves. Mimi was a volunteer for the Shubert Theatre, St. Ann's Soup Kitchen and active in Church affairs at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. With her earnings through sewing, she was able to contribute to many charitable organizations. Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service at Beaverdale Memorial Park (Section S) on March 25, 2006 at 9:30 AM with Pastor Derk Strauch officiating. A Memorial Service will be held on April 29th at 12:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to CanSupport Care, 110 Barnes Rd., P.O. Box 90, Wallingford, CT 06492, or to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3680 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06518. BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden is in charge of arrangements.
