Miss Mildred Reilly, 87, died February 5 at Whitney Center, Hamden, CT. She is survived by a cousin, Wayne Curtis, and her godchildren, Elizabeth Wintsch Shoudy, Suzanne Wintsch Churchill and Jonathan Gates Wintsch, and their families. Mildred was born in Williamsport, PA on February 8, 1919, and moved with her parents, Joseph and Henrietta (Curtis) Reilly and sister, Marion, to Naugatuck, CT where she lived for many years. During this time she and her sister made lifelong friendships with Dorothy and Charles Gates and Valerie and Fred Wintsch, as well as with many others in the local community. Mildred spent two years at Post College and was an active member of the Congregational Church of Naugatuck, singing in the choir, serving on many boards and committees, and participating in the Women's Christian Fellowship. In the early years she appeared on stage with the Parish Players. Mildred was very proud of her thirty-eight year association with The Taft School in Watertown, CT serving as secretary to three headmasters. She enjoyed needlework and sewing, gardening, travel and golf. During her years at Whitney Center, she organized the monthly art displays and was a member of Knit n' Stitch. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 2:30 p.m. at Whitney Center, 200 Leeder Hill Drive, in Hamden. Memorial gifts honoring her life may be made to The Taft School, 110 Woodbury Rd., Watertown, CT 06795 or to a charity of your choice.
