Mary Anne Maghery, age 66, of Wallingford, formerly of Hamden, passed away at MidState Medical Center on October 1, 2014. She was the wife of the late James G. Maghery. Born in New Haven on December 8, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Audrey Doherty Burke. Beloved mother of Erin Maghery of Wallingford. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Hart, of North Ft. Myers, FL, and her sister-in-law, Rita Sullivan, of Hamden. Mary Anne was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Burke, Jr. She will also be missed by her best friend Donna LaPlante, of Wallingford and of course, Harry and Tonto. Mary Anne worked as a legal secretary for Chubb Group Insurance of New Haven, and had also volunteered at CT Hospice for many years. She was a member of the Irish American Community Center in New Haven, enjoyed to travel, and was famous for her homemade jams and cookies. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 9:15 AM on Monday, October 6 th, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Rita Church, Hamden. Friends may also visit with her family at the funeral home from 5-8 PM on Sunday. Contributions in her memory may be sent to the Alfred E.
