Nancy J. (Metrelis) Alusitz, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 18, 2018 at One MacDonough Place in Middletown, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late William O. Alusitz. Born in New Haven, CT on November 20, 1926, Nancy was the daughter of the late Peter and Louise (Brainerd) Metrelis. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1944 and completed her education at the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. Nancy worked as a nursing supervisor at Hartford Hospital until her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and cryptograms. She volunteered for the Friends of the Meriden Public Library for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. Family meant the world to Nancy, and her life was enriched by her children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.Nancy is survived by her children Peter Alusitz and his wife Michelle Mariash of Yorktown Heights, NY, Jean McNamara and her husband Jeffrey of East Lyme, CT, five grandchildren, William Alusitz, Sylvie Alusitz, Lauren McNamara, Leigh McNamara Gianakos and Wade McNamara and her great grandchild Leo Gianakos. She also leaves her sister and best friend, Carol Quinn of Southwick, MA, a sister in law, Linda Alusitz and a brother in law, Vaughn Wyman. Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy Alusitz's memory can be made to the Friends of the Meriden Public Library, 105 Miller Street, Meriden, CT or One MacDonough Place, Middletown, CT.

    I have fond memories of her when we worked together with the Cub Scouts and as a .neighbor.. I always thought of her as a kind person and enjoyed a chat with her from time to time.
