Nancy Elizabeth Redway Pugsley, of North Branford, CT, died peacefully on February 9, 2016 surrounded by her four children. Nancy was born on November 26, 1927, in Ansonia CT, to Albert Sessions Redway and Dorothy Bryant Redway. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Pugsley Jr., and her younger brother, Albert Sessions Redway Jr. She is survived by her children Lucy Pugsley of New York, NY, Edwin Pugsley 'Win' and his wife Sandra of Bedford, NH, David Pugsley and his wife Annie of Salem, CT, and Christopher Pugsley 'Toph' of Boston, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren Lisa and Ross Pugsley, Samuel Pugsley and wife Ali, Alexandra 'Stewart' and husband Peter, Rebecca and Christopher Goetsch, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Nancy grew up in New Haven where she attended The Foote School, and Prospect Hill School (Hopkins Grammar School). She graduated from The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. in 1945 and then moved on to study with Professor Kraut, Columbia School of Economics, while attending two year college program at Katherine Gibbs School, NY. Nancy married Ebb on April 29, 1950. They settled in New Haven for the school year, Leete's Island for the summers and eventually moved full time to Guilford in 1975. The Berkshires, Stockbridge and Tanglewood in particular, also remained a special place for Nancy. An avid historian and civic focused member of the New Haven & Guilford communities, Nancy's thirst for knowledge and diverse interests led her to dedicate her time to many organizations; serving as Director of Junior Education Programs at the Peabody Museum, working for Dr. George Cowgill - editor of the Yale Medical School's Journal of Nutrition, an active member and former chair of Patriotic Service for the Colonial Dames of Connecticut, active member and former President of the Woman's Seamen's Friend Society, board member of The Children's Center in Hamden, Teen Advisor for YWCA, New Haven, membership with the New Haven Garden Club, New Haven Junior League, and the North End Club. Forever curious about the world, history, art, theater, and a sports fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, Nancy's primary focus was always her dedication to family. Whether it was managing a house full of kids, dogs, guests, wet swim suits & sand, traveling miles to her children's or grandchildren's various events, sharing her infectious giggle and human interest with any and all, or just reading the New York Times and New Haven Register every day, Nancy was always steadfastly rooted in her Alma Mater's motto of 'Do it with thy might,' complete with sunhat and colorful scarf. A service in celebration of Nancy's life will be held at Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven, CT on Saturday May 7, 2016 at 11:00am.
