September 7, 1930 ~ December 6, 2025

Born in: New Haven, CT
Resided in: Mt. Pleasant, SC

Natalie Melnikoff Kruchok, beloved mother and baba, fell asleep in the Lord on December 6, 2025, at the age of 95. A lifelong servant of her faith, family, and community, Natalie devoted her years to the Orthodox Church and to the people she loved.

Born and raised in New Haven, Natalie—affectionately known as “Skip,” “Skippy,” or “Schkippa”—was a dedicated member of the Orthodox Church in America and an active participant in the Federated Russian Orthodox Clubs. From her youth, she faithfully served the Church, preparing candles for services, singing in the choir, and taking on any task that was needed.

Natalie was employed for many years as a Youth Membership Coordinator at the Knights of Columbus, but her heart was always with her parish. Upon her retirement, she continued her lifelong service by taking on the role of Starosta (parish council chair) at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, a position she held with devotion for a total of eight years.

In 2015, Natalie moved to South Carolina to support her family, yet New Haven always remained her true home and is where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved late husband, Alexander Kruchok.

Natalie is survived by her daughters, Alexis Swan and Tamara Kruchok; her son-in-law, Peter; and her cherished grandson, Gregory.

Calling Hours at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, 285 Alden Ave., New Haven Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service being held at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be in church on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30, prior to her Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I have so many memories with my great Auntie Skippy (Natalie). She was a big influence on me when I was younger. She was the one I stood with in the church choir every Sunday in church she helped learn how to sing all the Russian hymns. It wasn’t easy but I eventually learned. I have to say some of the best memories were of our church bazaar we had great food, fun, and it was great fundraiser. I remember my Grandma Gladys would be in the kitchen cooking the borscht and Auntie Skippy, Alexis, and Tamara would be working the barrel table. Going to Northford to spend Easter with Uncle Mal and Auntie Skippy was always fun. I will miss her dearly and I know Uncle Mal and my Grandma Gladys are waiting for her in heaven. Memory Eternal Great Auntie Skippy. ☦️

  2. Dear Ali, I am so sorry to read of your dear mom’s passing. She was always so gracious to me when I would come over during our high school years. May she rest in peace, my friend. Peace, Love & Blessings, Sandie Beatificato

  3. Having the pleasure to enjoy the moments my Nat Nat’s life was a pleasure. All the singing, dancing, & off the record conversations 😂😂😂… It made my day to make memories I will always hold in my heart 💜. There are so many things I can say just know Nat Nat you may be gone in person, but you will NEVER be forgotten. My deepest condolences to Greg, Ali & Peter. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your family & life engagements… with love LaSharia Hill
