Nellie J. Sims
Meriden-Nellie J. Sims, 88, of 11 Warren St. died Friday April 13, 2001 in Cocomo Memorial Health Care. She was wife of the late Robert Sims, Sr. She was born on June 7, 1912 in Cumberland County, VA a daughter of the late Phillip and Katherine Brackett James and had lived in Meriden since 1961. She was a faithfull member of Parker A.M.E. Zion Church and served on the ''Willing Worker Team''. Mrs. Sims is survived by two daughters; Mary S. Lee of Richmond, VA and Martha S. Harmon of Hartford, CT, two sons; Ernest J. Sims of Meriden and Robert Sims , Jr. of Washington, DC, a devoted granddaughter Hattie Sheila Scott, 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 6 great- great-grandchildren, 36 foster children and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter; Cecelia S. Rollins, a son; Woodson Sims, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral service will be held Monday April 16, at 12 noon at the Parker A.M.E. Zion Church, 1280 N. Broad St. Meriden. The Rev. Leroy White will officiate. Friends may call at church one hour prior to service. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
