MERIDEN - Olive P. Young, 92, of 360 Broad St., died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at the Miller Memorial Community, where she had been a resident for the last four years. She was the wife of the late James K. Young. She was born in Wallingford on Feb. 13, 1909, the daughter of the late Eugene and Clara Booth Post. She had worked in the school savings department of the Home National Bank. After her retirement she was the operator of the Nearly New Shop at the YWCA for fourteen years. She was a member of the YWCA and the Meriden Woman's Club, where she served as welfare chairman for two years. She also worked on heart and cancer canvasses for many years. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Marjorie Young and Jay Budd of Meriden and Jane Young and Victor Couture of Meriden; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard N. Young of Clinton and Thomas R. and JoEllen Young of Singapore; two sisters-in-law, Jean Lingner of Meriden and Mary Young of Meriden; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Mary Dontigny of Meriden. She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Gammons and two brothers, Robert W. Post and Norhdell Post. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
