Ottorino 'Otto' Pini , age 84, formerly of Chester St. Hamden, passed away August 12, 2009 at Hamden Health Care Center. Otto is the husband of the late Sophie H. Probstel Pini; father of Paula Pini Cook & her husband Scott of Hamden, Albert & his wife Connie Pini of Hamden, Paul & his wife Gina Pini of North Haven & the late Carlo Pini; brother of Liliana Pogmore & her late husband Joseph of Hamden & the late Adolph & Renzo Pini. Otto also leaves 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Born in San Possidonio, Modena Italy on September 11, 1924 Otto was a son of the late Alcide and Giovannina 'Jennie' Mantovani Pini. Before his retirement in 1988 Otto was a carpenter, employed by A. Secondino & Son. He was a member of the Italian-American Club in Hamden, the Arbeiter Maenner Chor in West Haven and the Campania Athletic Club. Relatives and friends may visit with his family on Saturday Morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Hamden. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Contributions in Otto's memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780.

  2. Otto and i worked together at A. Secondino and Son for about 12 years. I will always remember his mischievous smile and the glint in his eye when he was about to play a joke on one of us. He was always a pleasure to work with and his presence brightened the room.I was fortunate enough to be honored with a jar of his unbelievable wild mushrooms each year.Friends like Otto made a hard job so much easier to do and for that i will always think of him and smile.
