Patricia Ann 'Nancy' Welch, age 82, of Hamden, passed away at her home on August 22, 2012. Nancy was born on September 1, 1929 in West Haven, a daughter of the late Edwin G. & Anne Mary Cody Hayes. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward W. Welch; her sons Edward Welch & his wife Betsy of Hamden, Steven Welch & his wife Andrea of Madison, WI and James Welch & his wife Sharon of Hamden; her sister Barbara Giglio of Waterbury and her brother John Hayes & his wife Linda of East Haven. Nancy was a loving grandmother to her four grandsons Christopher, Gregory, David & Alex. She was predeceased by her infant son William Welch. She retired from the former Union Trust Bank in downtown New Haven, where she was a teller for many years. Nancy was vivacious and creative and had a great love for life. She wrote poetry for all her friend's special events and enjoyed painting, singing and playing the piano and her many trips; including Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean and road trips throughout the U.S. She often attended the theater in New York and the Black Jack table at the casinos. The family wants to express their gratitude for the exceptional and compassionate care that Nancy recieved from the staff of St. Raphael's Hospital, Whitney Manor and especially from Hospice Nurse Lori Morgan. We have lost a beautiful spirit and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 9:15 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave, Hamden. Friends may also visit with her family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Her interment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
