Patricia Ann “Pat” (Kavanaugh) Dowling, 90, loving wife of Edward J. Dowling, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023 in Los Angeles, CA. Pat was predeceased by her husband Ed and brother Jack Kavanaugh. Pat will be missed by her family; Edward Dowling, Michael and Lauretta Dowling, Paul and Debra Dowling, David and Natasha Dowling, her grandchildren; Michael William and his wife Sara, Steven Edward, Daniel Patrick and Jack Edward, and great-grandchildren; Sofia and Andrew. In addition, she leaves her nephew Jack (Cora) Kavanaugh, nieces, Maureen (Larkin) Campbell, Katie (Nathan) Beit, and Eileen (David) Kalla, and many great-nieces and nephews who Aunt Patsy loved dearly. Pat grew up in Norwich, CT, then moved to New Haven, CT, where she prepared for a career as a registered nurse at Grace New Haven Hospital until starting her family in 1957. Pat was affectionately known as “Nanny” by friends and family. She had an outgoing personality, which she shared with others in her daily life as well as in her volunteer work; serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Rita Church and in her daily prayer group, as well as being a recorder for Reading for the Blind. Pat had a strong love of the arts and enjoyed spending time with family and friends in NYC at Broadway plays, the Metropolitan Opera and numerous museums, especially the Getty in CA. Pat and Ed made travel a priority and took many wonderful trips throughout their life together. She will be forever in our hearts.
A graveside service was held at St. Lawrence Cemetery on Monday, December 18, 2023. Donations in Pat’s memory may be made to CT HOSPICE, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
