Patricia Crawford

Patricia Stanton Barnes Crawford, 89, formerly of West Haven and Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017 at YNHH-St. Raphael's Hospital. She was born April 29, 1927 in West Haven, a daughter of the late Bernard B. and Lillian Hogan Barnes. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jerome Crawford; sons, Martin and Jerry (Jac) Crawford; sister, Catherine Barnes; step-granddaughter, Stephanie, and son-in-law, Frank Pergolotti. Pat is survived by her son, William T. Crawford of New Haven; three daughters, Patricia (Barry) Swanson of Satellite Beach, FL, Karen (James) Held of Hanover, PA, and Peg L. Crawford of West Haven. She is also survived by five grandchildren, April Swanson of Melbourne, FL, Melissa (Kevin) Snow of Jacksonville, FL, Eric (Allyson) Swanson of Merritt Island, FL and Sarah Held and Robert Held, both of Hanover, PA, and six great-grandchildren. Pat grew up in Woodmont, CT and was a graduate of Milford High School. In 1948 she graduated from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and served as an Army nurse in Virginia during WWII. Pat enjoyed living on Long Island Sound and collecting lighthouses. She was an avid reader of historical novels and mysteries. She also loved all kinds of music including Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Broadway musicals of the 40's and 50's - especially South Pacific. Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to YNHH-Grimes Center for the care they provided during the past several years. Thanks also to YNHH-St. Raphael's SICU for making her final days comfortable. Private services and burial in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden CT.
