In Cheshire, Aug. 12, 2004, Percy E. McClure 75, of New Haven, husband of 58 years to Virginia Griffin McClure, father of William Marvin McClure of Meriden and Clifton Eugene McClure of Hamden, brother of Stanley McClure of Atlanta, GA and Dorothy Lancaster of Mystic, CT, grandfather of Marva, Derik, Jenal and LaTanya McClure and great-grandfather of, Marshall and Jacari McClure. Also survived by a host of cousins and special friends. Percy was born in Tryon, NC, Nov. 26,1928 a son of the late Eugene and Annie Whitesides McClure. He had been an automobile salesman for many years and had worked at Somers Pontiac, Partyka Chevrolet and retired in 1996 due to illness from Executive Honda of Wallingford. He had received many awards and was named top salesman on several occasions. He started riding horses as a preteen and became an avid horseman and expert rider and horse handler and had many friends at the Bethany Stables. He also enjoyed fox hunting and deep sea fishing. Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 18, 2004 at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call prior to the service from 5-7 p.m.
