Peter Bartlett Hansen

Peter Bartlett Hansen, age 73, passed away on July 16, 2018 at Whitney Manor Convalescent Center in Hamden, CT. Peter was born June 1, 1945 in Salem, MA, son of the late Elmer Frederick Hansen and Priscilla Bartlett Hansen. He graduated from Baldwinsville, NY high school in 1963 and from Clarkson University in 1967 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He later earned a Masters degree in Electronics Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Peter worked for General Electric in Schenectady, NY and Pittsfield, MA and then moved to Connecticut where he worked for several fiber-optic companies that eventually merged into AT&T. He lived in Hamden, CT for 38 years and was an active member of the Unitarian Society of New Haven and a member of its choir. Choral singing was a lifelong hobby of Peter's and he sang in several choral groups over the years, including the Mohawk Valley Chorus and the New Haven Chorale. Mr. Hansen is survived by two sisters, Pamela Whittet of Ormond Beach, FL and Deborah Hansen of Santa Monica, CA; a brother-in-law, James Whittet; and a nephew, Andrew Whittet and his wife Stephanie. His family wishes to thank the Whitney Manor staff and Seasons Hospice for the care he received and his faithful friends for their love and support. A memorial service will be held on September 8, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, 700 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden, CT with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the music program of USNH or the New Haven Chorale.
