Priscilla D. Fehm, long time resident of Hamden, passed away on August 20, 2014 at YNHH. Born in Augusta, ME on May 22, 1927, daughter of the late Sadie Morin and Irenee Pomerleau. Priscilla was predeceased by her husband, Sherwood A. Fehm, Sr.; step-son, Sherwood A. Fehm, Jr.; step-daughter, Pamela F. Bell; step-granddaughter, Saba Fehm-Sullivan. She is survived by one sister, Ida T. Yukas of Albany, OR; son-in-law, David Bell of St. Augustine, FL; 2 step-granddaughters, Gretchen Fehm Blake and Elif Fehm-Sullivan, 3 step-great granddaughters, and numerous close friends, including her special friend Gabe Gognata. She graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, ME in 1945. In 1951, she received a B.A. in Nursing from Colby College, Waterville, ME, and a Master's of Science in Nursing from Boston University in 1970. From 1951 to 1972, she held positions as a staff nurse in a variety of hospitals in Maine and Texas and also served as a nursing instructor in medical facilities in Massachusetts, Iowa, and Kansas. In 1972 she became Associate Director for Nursing Education at the V.A. Medical Center in West Haven and served in that position until retirement in 1987. While at Colby College she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. At Boston University she was appointed to the Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing. She was actively involved with the CT League of Nursing, serving on the Board of Directors and the Program Committee. She also held joint nursing faculty appointments at University of Bridgeport and Yale University and served on numerous area nursing and health related groups and committees. As a volunteer in retirement, Priscilla was a health history interviewer with the blood donor program of the American Red Cross and a volunteer at Hospice. She was an avid supporter of environmental causes and an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, contributing to the Parish Nurse Program and Lutheran Church Women's Activities. Friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Tuesday, September 9th at Christ Lutheran Church, 600 Shepard Ave, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
