Rachel Berardesca Mongillo
In Hamden, Nov. 19, 2003, Rachel Berardesca Mongillo, 95, wife of the late Stephen A. Mongillo, Sr., formerly of Whitney Ave., Hamden. She was born in New Haven, June 9, 1908, a daughter of the late Umberto and Natalie Pinto Berardesca. She is survived by a son, Stephen A. Mongillo, Jr. and his wife, Mary Scanlon Mongillo of Hamden, four grandchildren: Mary Ellen Selby of Hinsdale, IL, Stephen A. Mongillo, III of Rye, NY, Anne McRavey of Thousand Oaks, CA and James Mongillo of Hamden, sisters: Frances Fonteyn of New Haven, Nancy Girardi of North Haven, Virginia Zona of Hamden and brothers: Nicholas Berardesca of Hamden. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Rita Church, Hamden, Sat., Nov. 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hamden Healthcare Center, Recreation Fund, 1270 Sherman Ln., Hamden, CT 06514.
I was saddened to read that Rae had passed away. My mother, Connie, was Rae\’s friend and next door neighbor on Whitney Avenue. God Bless.
